What Happens During a Dryer Vent Cleaning Appointment

If you've never had a dryer vent cleaned, you're not sure what you're paying for. Here's exactly what happens — start to finish — at a typical San Antonio appointment.

Step 1: Arrival and walk-through (5–10 min)

We confirm the dryer location, the path of the duct (wall or attic or roof), and the exterior exit. We ask whether anything has felt off — long dry times, hot laundry room, flow-sense warnings. This shapes the inspection.

Step 2: Free inspection (10–15 min)

Before we quote anything, we open the duct, inspect the run with a camera where needed, and check the exterior hood. Then we tell you straight: cleaning needed, repair needed, or come back in 6 months.

Step 3: Setup (5 min)

  • Drop cloth or floor protection under the dryer
  • Carefully pull the dryer out (extra care on gas dryers)
  • Disconnect the flex hose
  • Set up HEPA vacuum and brush kit

Step 4: The actual cleaning (20–35 min)

This is the bulk of the visit. We use rotary brushes on flexible rods, working from both the dryer side and the exterior exit when possible. The HEPA vacuum captures everything — no lint dust escapes into your home.

  • Full duct run cleared
  • Elbows and transitions worked carefully
  • Exterior hood and flap cleared (and checked for bird nests)
  • Dryer connection point vacuumed

Step 5: Reconnect and test (5–10 min)

The flex hose is reconnected (or replaced if it was damaged). The dryer goes back in place. We run a cycle and measure airflow at the exterior exit to verify the clean.

Step 6: Walk-through and photos (5 min)

Before we leave:

  • You see before/after photos of the duct
  • You see the lint pile that came out (it surprises most people)
  • We point out anything to watch — old duct, weak flap, recommended cleaning interval
  • Service receipt by email or text

What we don't do

  • We don't pressure-sell HVAC duct cleaning
  • We don't fake \"mold\" findings to upcharge
  • We don't add charges that weren't in the inspection quote
  • We don't leave a mess

Total time

Most San Antonio homes: 45–75 minutes. See How long does dryer vent cleaning take? for full breakdown by home type.

Frequently Asked Questions

+Do I need to do anything before you arrive?

Just clear access to the dryer and let us know if it's a gas dryer. We bring everything else.

+Will it be messy?

No. We use HEPA-filtered vacuum capture, drop cloths under the dryer, and clean up before we leave. You won't see lint clouds.

+Do you check anything besides the vent?

Yes. We check the connection, the exterior hood and flap, the duct condition along the run, and airflow at the exit. Anything that needs attention, we tell you.

+Will you show me what came out?

Always. Before/after photos are part of the visit. You see what was in there and what the result looks like.

+How do I pay?

Card, tap-to-pay, or check at the end of the visit. We don't ask for payment upfront.
